Company
Information
Bryce
Drummond set up an Ayr Office for a nationwide engineering consultancy
in 1988, starting with several contacts but no actual projects or
clients. However by 1996, when he bought out the Ayr business, it
had grown into an established design service with both private and
local authority Clients throughout the West of Scotland but with
projects from Orkney to Stranraer.
As
Ayrshire has a broad commercial/manufacturing base including coastline
harbours and an airport, a popular tourist centre, a large farming
community and yet is adjacent to the cities and towns of Central
Scotland, the types of commissions and forms of construction designed
by the practice now cover the full spectrum of civil and structural
engineering, with project values from a few hundred to several million
pounds.
Bryce, Director pictured on the right and Dino McKee on the left
manage the consultancy and welcome direct enquiries from prospective
clients or anyone seeking advice for any size of project, and at
any stage of development.

Senior
Staff Profiles
J.
B. Drummond, Director - C.Eng, M.I.C.E., M.R.I.C.S., M.a.P.S.
Date of Birth 26.08.41
Bryce
came to Ayrshire in 1968 as a Resident Engineer for Ove Arup after
education and training in Edinburgh with experience in reinforced
concrete buildings, steelwork and related civil engineering works.
Since
then he has worked with Consultants, Contractors and Local Authorities
in the West of Scotland with periods in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.
Bryce's
initial engineering duties were mainly for new building erected
in the construction boom years 1960-1970 such as multi-storey flats,
schools and factories. However extensions and alterations to commercial
premises and the restoration or refurbishment of residential properties
(whether individual units, tenemental blocks or whole developments)
have taken up more of his design work in recent years.
Regular
commissions to restore historic or listed buildings, - houses, castles,
towers - have given Bryce some problems but much satisfaction. Having
dealt with Design Teams, Contractors, Local Architects and Historic
Scotland, Bryce considers that he has a better (than most Engineers)
understanding of the various requirements and attitudes of all parties
concerned in the restoration and construction process. This year
he became a trustee in the Ayrshire Architecture Heritage Trust.
D.
P. McKee, Associate - I. Eng., A.M.I. Struct. E., A.M.I.C.E.,
M.a.P.S.
Date of Birth - 24.03.56
Dino
McKee came to this consultancy after having been a Project Engineer
with Irvine Development Corporation for seven years gaining experience
in harbour and wharf restoration/sea wall works together with structural
engineering projects such as Red Cross House - a £4.5 million
development for disabled people with special needs.
His
previous experience with a Glasgow consultancy included new building
designs such as swimming pools and housing complexes, and the restoration
of many Victorian properties, as well as the supervision of Civil
Engineering projects such as roads and drainage works. Particularly
interesting projects included the redevelopment of Glasgow's underground
railway network in the early 1980's and a Sports Cities Complex
in Libya.
Dino's
computing expertise led to his development of our I.T. and C.A.D.
facilities allowing us to network with Clients and Design Teams.
